As an integral part of the Comium Group’s vision to deliver total telecom solutions in emerging markets and beyond, Comium formed an advanced data division, C-Data, in 2006 for the sole purpose of developing and delivering world-class Wireless Broadband Internet services to our customers and business partners.
Within a short period of time, Comium was able to secure more than ten Broadband Wireless licenses across Africa and Lebanon, thereby becoming the region’s largest single Wireless Service Provider. The division’s mission is to develop and operate advanced Internet and Data Communications Services catering to the unmet needs and demands in the residential, Small Office Home Office (SOHO) and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) market segments. C-Data currently offers mobile internet solutions under its “Wigo” brand.
WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is the standard access technology most commonly used in developing and emerging markets. Comium is rapidly deploying such WiMAX networks in many of the countries where we have licenses.
To distinguish Comium even further, we have developed a unique set of Internet Value Added Services (VAS) designed to deliver superior services to our customers, by bringing cost effective and tailor-made solutions that include Voice, Data, Virtual Private Networks and a variety of Internet Business Products.
C-Data is to embrace new emerging standards such as LTE (Long Term Evolution “4G”) by deploying today a modular strategy that enables our Internet Business Solution offering to be access independent; which future-proofs our business model and empowers our customers to benefit from current and future standards like WiMAX and LTE.
C-Data is now operational in three countries including Lebanon, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Additionally, we have ambitious plans to soon deploy advanced Internet and Data Communications networks in Burundi, Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia.
